Strategic Communications Plan

The  Strategic Communications Plan for the City of Fernley, Nevada for Fiscal Year 2018 through Fiscal Year 2020 was completed  published August 2017 by the University Center for Economic Development in the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno and accepted by the City Council September 2017.


  • Compose and distribute City Newsletter.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases.
  • Send out information to list serve subscribers through e-mail about various items relevant to City government.
  • Maintain and update City’s social media.
  • Create, update, and distribute brochures in paper and electronic format to inform citizens about prolicies and requirements of various City functions.
  • Update information on City’s website.
  • Prepare speeches for elected officials.

Community Engagement Efforts

  • City of Fernley Virtual Citizens Leadership Academy begins February 11th, 2021 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm for a total of five weeks Thursday nights. 
  • Spooktacular on Halloween every year.
  • Annual Christmas Tree Lighting/Fernley Hometown Christmas
