The City is excited to share a picture of the CDBG grant-funded clock plaza on the corner of Silver Lace Blvd. and Main Street. This plaza features a custom city clock, benches, trash receptacle, and an art component. We are once again proud to feature the work of local artist, Twisted Steel, who custom designed the 37” diameter metal art sphere. The sphere ties in with the theme created with the metal banners along Main Street, featuring symbols of Fernley’s heritage, along with Nevada pride as well. All of these items included in this corner plaza were 100% grant-funded through the Community Development Block Grant program as part of ongoing downtown beautification efforts.
The City would like to thank CDBG, Twisted Steel, and lastly Lyon County for their collaboration on this project, allowing the City to make use of the corner space that previously displayed the Lyon County Complex sign. Stay tuned for additional projects to be competed from this grant, including more benches and trash receptacles along the Main Street corridor, and an event to celebrate the unveiling in the near feature (more details to come). We hope our community members will enjoy this enhancement to Main Street, and be sure to share any pictures with #FernleyClockPlaza. Please note: The city clock will be up and running within two weeks (the film will remain covering the dials until it is ready to go).
