Mayor LeRoy Goodman announced at the December 2nd Council meeting that Washoe County's East Truckee Canyon Citizen Advisory Board is looking for a representative from the City of Fernley to fill a vacancy on the board. This is a volunteer position.
The Citizen Advisory Board (CAB) member serves to get comments to the County Commissioners so they are aware of concerns. This enables them to address the issues in the best interest of the communities. Members on CABs are selected with the intent to provide representation, to the extent reasonably possible, from a broad cross-section of the represented community(ies). The idea is to ensure that all major viewpoints are examined, and that any faction or special interest group does not dominate the Citizen Advisory Board.
Meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday bimonthly (January, March, May, July, September and November) at 7:00 p.m. at the Stampmill Neighborhood Fire Station #25, 400 Stampmill Dr., Wadsworth, Nevada.
Citizen Advisory Board members are required to reside within the geographical boundaries, be registered voters, complete a mandatory training course, and serve one two-year term (in some cases, however, considerations of continuity may allow for reappointment of a member to consecutive terms (limited to three consecutive terms). The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) may appoint a member to an additional term (four consecutive terms) if there are no other qualified applicants.
