Hello, I’m Roy Edgington, Mayor of Fernley.
We have all had to make some really big changes in life lately due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We still have essential things that need to be done like grocery shopping. I encourage you to research our local grocery stores, each store is different, however, several stores do offer e-cart services so that you can pick up groceries at the door. The more we minimize the risk of exposure, the sooner we will see the flattening of the curve of COVID-19. If you do have to venture into stores for essential items, please remember if possible, only one family member per shopping trip. Many stores offer sanitizing wipes to use to wipe down carts and baskets. Please, if possible, wear a mask and gloves. And then be sure to dispose of your gloves and all sanitization wipes properly.
When you return home, take caution with what bring into your home, this includes your shoes. Wipe down groceries, bags, and all surfaces that these items may come in contact with.
During this difficult time, I encourage our residents to try to support our local businesses as often as you can. Many food establishments are still offering their menu as to go for pick up, let’s support our local economy the best that we can. Several local retailers also offer shopping online or via phone for pick up, or the option to purchase gift cards to use in the future. Let’s do what we can to help support the backbone of our local economy.
We are all in this together, stay safe, and stay healthy.
